Heat Exchanger

Heat Exchanger
Simulated Layout of the Heat Exchanger

The Inverter will be enclosed in an aluminum casing with air cooling using a fan and cooling fins. The heat generated by the SiC mosfets will be reduced for the current voltage level and switching frequencies. The motor will have coolant that is releasing heat through a radiator and fan. Also, the motor has a temperature sensor that can be used to adjust the flow rate or speed of the fan attached to the radiator. For the batteries, the use of cooling for lead acid batteries in series may not be necessary for the current voltage levels. Lead acid batteries do not usually require cooling, however as the voltage level increases the problem with overheating is solved with lithium-ion battery packs and a water-cooling system.
